Welcome to Alpine Transport, we offer many options to ship your vehicle. We ship personal vehicles, car dealerships, military personnel and corporate relocation. We have open and enclosed carriers.
Open-carrier car transportation is one of the many services offered by Alpine, considered to be the most efficient and most common form of car transport. As we mentioned earlier, open vehicle transportation is the most common way of moving your vehicle. If open transport car shipping is not for you, there are other alternatives you can consider, including enclosed, full-service, and cheap vehicle transportation.
There is a small possibility your vehicle may get damaged if you opt for open-car transportation. The only real reason to avoid choosing open transportation is if you are shipping a high-end car, which requires special handling and additional protection. While there are risks involved in open transportation shipping, there are things that can be done to minimize those risks and help ensure your vehicle is secure throughout its journey.
One reason so many new car manufacturers are willing to send their inventory over open carriers at dealerships is that it is extremely safe. The benefits of shipping your vehicle on open-carrier transportation greatly outweigh the risks involved. In fact, any vehicle in which you desire maximum protection may be shipped inside a covered carrier rather than open vehicle transportation.
Open car transport carriers have a capacity of 10 vehicles per trip, which makes it both cheaper and easier to organize compared with enclosed carriers. Car dealerships prefer using open carriers because they can accommodate up to ten vehicles at once, reducing the per-vehicle costs. One benefit is the fact that open-carrier transport providers can hold multiple vehicles, which also significantly lowers the costs involved.
Enclosed car transportation carriers typically charge twice the price as open carriers, which is why closed vehicle transportation is not very popular with consumers, unless they have a luxury vehicle which requires extra protection. Car transport in an enclosed carrier is not limited to these smaller vehicles. Sealed transportation is a method of transportation that offers the best car security while taking fewer vehicles.

Any damages caused to a vehicle while in transit are directly under the carriers liability, not American Vehicle Shippings. If you car does suffer some damages while in transit, the majority of the insurance provided by the transporter will cover this. Cargo carriers are not licensed or insured to carry personal belongings or household items, however, Alpine Transport does realize you might want to place certain items into the car.

With multiple open-carrier carriers available, you should have an easier time finding a carrier who can pick your car up and deliver to its destination quickly.
There are extremely efficient regulations for having open vehicle transportation carriers on the road, which make sure the cars are carefully secured in order to avoid shifts and disasters should a hard corner occur or stop suddenly. Please be aware that although your vehicle will be secure against theft and other damages, open vehicle transport carriers are entirely exposed, and they will not protect vehicles against weather damage.
As mentioned by Nexus Vehicle Transport, vehicles shipped in Open carriers are rarely damaged by rain, dirt, ice, dust, etc. While vehicles shipped on open carriers are rarer to receive damages, they are nonetheless exposed to a wide variety of elements, including bird droppings, dirt, and dust, and weather-related issues (ice, rain, snow, etc.). The vehicles are also exposed to a range of street and other external elements including dust, dirt, mud, rocks, and insects.
An enclosed vehicle carrier will keep the car safe inside from these elements, making sure rain, snow, sleet, hail, rocks, or any other object does not get into the car. While established haulers put their best cars to work handling your car, you still need to know yours will travel without protection from the elements.
With more than 18,000 open-cargo carriers nationwide moving thousands of vehicles every day, there are plenty of open-cargo companies sending theirs cross-country in open-cargo. Our vehicle transportation calculator calculates different factors to get you the best possible closing vehicle transportation estimate from an open car carrier.

Thanks Bobby
Contacted Bobby needed to transport my SUV from MD to ATL. Bobby took my info and said he would call as soon as he dispatch a driver in several hours he contacted me said he can have my car pickup up that next day Friday and delivered on Saturday. The Driver call right away before the pickup and after. He was very quick and professional.
We found a great company
I work for a high-end car dealer and we have been using Alpine Transport for some time now. Every time we transport a car we get estimate s from a few different companies, but we always seem to come back to these guys. They always have a good price and we know that they are going to do a fantastic job. Over the years we have had some minor issues, but the great thing about these guys is that they communicate well and solve the problems. I defiantly recommend these guys for transport your vehicles.
Don't make the same mistake that i did...
I don’t know why i have to learn things the hard way:( I went with the cheapest company and they didn’t show up to pick up my car. I tried calling them all day long and they wouldn’t answer the phone. I had already given them a deposit and so then i had to go through the hassle of doing a chargeback. They had four-stars, so i thought i was good. I started calling around and i found joe with Alpine Transport. He was really nice and explained why the other company couldn’t get a driver to pick up my car. Bobby was awesome and he got a driver to come out the next day. Everything worked out and i was very happy with this company. I ended up paying a couple hundred dollars more, and it was worth it! These guys are really nice and the understand how to communicate. Thumbs up for Alpine Transport!
Job done...
I booked, they picked up and delivered. Everything went smooth and i have noting but good things to say about this company.
Very happy with the service!
Great experience from the first call to the delivery of my vehicle. I read a lot of reviews before i chose Alpine Transport. I went with them because nobody had anything bad to say about this company.
Customer service – awesome
Price – average
Pickup – everything went smooth and driver did a great job!
Delivery – driver called the day before and gave me a time and he showed up as he said he would.
Totally recommend this company!
Definition of Open Carrier
Definition of Open Carrier – This type of transport does not protect your vehicle from the elements. Your vehicle is exposed to the outside of our trucks, but we can fit more vehicles on our trucks and this lowers the Price of transport your vehicle. Damages from the elements are rare, but can occur. Most people are willing to take the small risk to save a considerable amount of money.
An enclosed car carrier is an excellent vehicle transportation option that you may want to consider, particularly if you are moving a classic or customized car. You can either choose to ship one of your vehicles on an enclosed carrier or open-carrier transportation. When you have to move your car, you will get the choice to either have your vehicle shipped in an open carrier or enclosed car carrier.
The shipping method (open or enclosed) will heavily influence your final pricing when it comes to your vehicle shipment. If you own a luxury car, a vintage, classic, or sports car, enclosed vehicle shipping is the best method for vehicle transportation because it provides extra protection and security to the luxury car. An enclosed vehicle transporter provides better protection to your car when being transported. An enclosed car transporter typically only carries several vehicles at once, most commonly, five vehicles.
Enclosed transportation involves shipping your car on an enclosed carrier, which is fully enclosed on all sides. Open-trailer vehicle transportation involves transporting a vehicle in a trailer that is open on all sides.
Open vehicle shipping is a highly efficient method of transporting cars because carriers are able to carry multiple vehicles per delivery. Open car transportation is an industry standard, meaning that many more carriers are offering an open vehicle transportation service. This, in turn, means you can easily get open car transportation service at a moments notice. Open transportation is appropriate for any kind of car, and it is a better option if you are looking to send an off-the-shelf model or used vehicle. If you are concerned that open vehicle transportation will give your car sufficient protection, keep in mind that carriers move millions of vehicles in this manner each year.
Open vehicle transportation means that you will not have to wait for another car to arrive, and do not have to worry about any other vehicles. Just like single car open air, these transportations are able to transport only a single car to its destination. You would think because the open carrier transports are carrying several vehicles, that they would need more time to reach the destination.
Since there are many more open carrier carriers out there, you should have no trouble finding one that can pick up your car quickly and deliver to its destination on time. The benefits of shipping your car on open-carrier transportation greatly outweigh the risks involved. Risks are statistically insignificant, and the benefits of an open carrier vehicle transportation far outweigh the potential downsides.
When it comes to a convenient transportation option, open-carrier trucking is the most popular mode for vehicle transportation. Shipping your vehicle on an open carrier is cheaper because seven to 10 vehicles can fit on one double-decker trailer and ship at once. Shipping a car across the U.S. using an open-carrier carrier is the most popular and least expensive of our car transportation services that we offer. The fastest (and likely the most expensive) type of vehicle transportation is by air.
Rail transportation is also in one of the more expensive modes of transporting vehicles. Airfreight remains the fastest, as well as safest, means to transport a vehicle from one location to another. Enclosed vehicle transportation is good for shorter distances, as not a lot of people can travel across the country driving your car, plus, that costs a lot of money.
If you are moving longer distances, you might be willing to get your car shipped instead of driving yourself. If you do not want to go with one of the options mentioned above, you could also hire a professional driver with an vehicle moving company to take your car to its final destination. In case you prefer not to use any of the above options, you can also hire someone from an vehicle moving company to drive the luxury car to the final destination.
In this method, you will get your vehicle placed onto a trailer attached to a truck, which will take your car wherever you want to take it. Only one car will be sitting atop a trailer, fully secured, and alone for the entire transportation. When a transporter loads your car on an open-bed vehicle transportation trailer, it would be secured using chains or a latching mechanism.
As a result, you might wish to opt for a closed hauler for higher-value luxury vehicles or antiques, which need that additional layer of protection that is not offered with open hauling. The only real reason to avoid an open-cargo transportation option is if you are moving an expensive car that requires special handling and additional protection.
If you are looking to transport a truck using open transportation, you can expect to pay $1210 for open transportation, as opposed to $1680 for enclosed vehicle transportation, on average. While costs will vary depending on a few different factors, including vehicle size, the time of year, timeframe of shipment, and shipping distance, you can expect to pay around 30%-40% less for open truck transportation. For instance, if you are looking to transport a vehicle using open transportation, you can expect to pay $970, on average, compared with $1340 for a closed vehicle transporter.
One benefit is the fact that open-carrier transportation providers are capable of accommodating larger vehicles, which could also drastically reduce the costs involved. Open car transportation is usually the cheaper option, and is usually very easy to book due to the frequency people use it.
Occasionally, trucking companies will move these hauls using cars or motorcycles since these only hold a single vehicle. Single-level enclosed transportation is typically space-constrained, carrying fewer vehicles than single-level open-top transportation. Enclosed transportation is usually the preferred transportation method for owners looking to move a new vehicle, an antique, collectible, or an expensive car.
Why Open Carrier vehicle transport?
As mentioned above, open carrier transport is by far the most popular form of vehicle transport. Open carrier is not just utilized by people on a tight budget. Many dealerships, auctions, collectors and individuals use open car carrier to transport their vehicles because it really is a great Price effective option.
When it comes to a Alpine transportation option, open-carrier trucking is the most popular way of moving your car. Open transport is appropriate for any kind of vehicle, and is a better option if you are looking to send an off-the-shelf model or used vehicle. Open vehicle transportation is a highly efficient method for vehicle transportation because carriers are able to ship multiple vehicles per consignment. As we mentioned earlier, open car transportation is the most common way of moving cars.
With open transportation, your vehicle is typically shipped in a long, double-decker trailer. Enclosed transport involves shipping your vehicle on a closed-top trailer, which is fully enclosed on all sides.
You may choose to ship one of your vehicles either in an enclosed carrier or an open-carrier transport. An enclosed carrier for vehicle shipping is an excellent vehicle transportation option that you could choose, particularly if you have a classic or customized car that needs to be transported. Shipping your vehicle on an open-top vehicle carrier is cheaper because you can fit seven to 10 vehicles on one double-wide trailer and have them shipped at the same time.
For instance, if you are looking to send your vehicle using an open car carrier, you can expect to pay $970, on average, compared with $1,340 for an enclosed car carrier. While costs will vary depending on a few different factors, including vehicle size, the time of year, timeframe for delivery, and delivery distance, you can expect to pay around 30%-40% less for open vehicle transportation. If you are looking to transport a truck using open truck transportation, you can expect to pay $1210 for open transport, as opposed to $1,680 for enclosed car transportation, on average.
Enclosed car transport is good for shorter distances, as not a lot of people are likely going across the country driving your car, plus it will cost more money. Enclosed vehicle transportation carriers typically charge twice as much as open carriers, which is why covered vehicle transportation is not as popular with consumers, unless they have lux cars that require extra protection.
If you are concerned that open car transportation will give your car sufficient protection, keep in mind that carriers move millions of vehicles in this manner each year. The benefits of shipping your car with open vehicle carrier transportation greatly outweigh the risks involved. While there are risks involved with shipping your car in an open carrier, there are things that can be done to minimize those risks and help ensure that your vehicle is secure throughout its journey. There is a small possibility of damage to your vehicle if you opt for open transportation shipment.
If your vehicle does suffer some damages, no fault of your own, a reliable open vehicle shipping company will have insurance that covers the costs. If there is any damage to your car while being transported, and the carriers insurance does not cover it, American Vehicle Transport will assist in paying your personal insurance deductible. Any damages caused to a vehicle while in transit are directly under the carriers liability, not American Vehicle Shippings.
Carriers are not licensed or insured to carry personal items or home items, however, American Vehicle Shipping does realize you might want to place certain items into your car. Ten-car haulers are the carriers that we partner with most often for your car transportation needs. Single-level, multiple-car carriers: Single-level is typically used for transporting supercars or luxury vehicles, or when you require expedited services. This type of carrier is usually used for moving sports cars or luxury vehicles, or when expedited deliveries are required.
A double-car-trailer-single-vehicle vehicle transporter used for moving cars short distances, or where an expedited delivery is required. Car carriers can carry all types of vehicles in open-bed trailers, no matter the size, height, weight, or model. With an open-air transport carrier, your car is loaded on to a trailer, which usually has two racks holding between four and 10 vehicles.
One of the advantages to using an open-air vehicle transport carrier versus enclosed carrier, for the majority of uses, is it is generally faster from a pickup to a delivery standpoint, an advantage is because more open-air carriers are on the road, and they can hold more vehicles at any given time, compared to their enclosed counterparts. While it is common for open car carriers to carry more vehicles than a single vehicle, you would think that feature would make them slower, the scheduling is easier, often making them faster. Shipping to and from urban areas usually costs less, as there are more transportation vehicles available to meet customers scheduling needs.
Open-air vehicle transportation is an industry standard, meaning that a greater number of carriers are offering open-air vehicle transportation services. This, in turn, means you can easily book an open-air car transportation service on short notice. If you are moving your vehicle via open vehicle transportation, not only does it make life easier on you, but it is much more Alpine than you would expect. If open-air vehicle transport is not for you, there are other alternatives you can consider, including enclosed transportation, full-service transportation, and cheap transportation. If you own a vehicle you think is valuable due to its rarity, or because the vehicle is expensive, then it is probably going to be a better approach for you.
Enclosed car shipping is usually the preferred shipping method for owners looking to move a brand new vehicle, an antique, collectible, or an expensive car. Older vehicles, even when they are no longer worth much, may pose a liability, and open-air haulers will opt to carry models from newer years instead. Unless the client does not care a lot, which is difficult to imagine, you are better off shipping anything older than 50 years with an enclosed vehicle transporter.
Ship A Cars transportation coordinators use our extensive nationwide network of open-car carriers to help move just about any type of vehicle across the country. Because we have a vast amount of experience in moving vehicles, your vehicle will be shipped using the fastest and most trusted routes.

Terminal To Terminal vehicle transport
Terminal to terminal transport requires the customer to both drop off and pick up their car from a tow company or terminal. Open carrier terminal to terminal transport is the most affordable vehicle transport service currently available.
The other major way of transporting vehicles, door-to-door, costs more, but it also removes the additional trips required to drop and pick the vehicle at the transportation terminal. Car carriers move vehicles in and out of these terminals in order to consolidate deliveries going to the same general area, so shipping by terminal is usually cheaper than door-to-door.
Numerous carriers can move cars as they make their way to a terminal you pick up. Once picked up, your car is transported by your carriers vehicle transporter to your terminals designated terminal location, where you will collect the vehicle. The carrier transports your car to another terminal near the destination location, from which you can collect your vehicle. The carrier will arrive at your pick-up terminal, take possession of your car, then drive it to another terminal within your drop-off zone, where it will be sitting there waiting for you, the owner, to collect it.
Terminal-to-terminal vehicle transportation means the customer has to drop the car off at the terminal closest to their pickup location, and pick it up from a terminal closer to the delivery location. Having to take a car to a terminal and collect it once delivered is really inconvenient. If you are okay with dropping and picking the car at a terminal, and subjecting the vehicle to the possible chaos and elements, then you might consider this kind of vehicle transportation convenient. The Terminal-to-Terminal method can still offer a solid method for moving your vehicle, and you might be fine with this method if you do not mind the logistical hurdles.
You could also ask an vehicle transportation company to first make use of a local towing service to take your car to the terminal, should you be unable to drive it yourself.
Once your vehicle is dropped off at your destination, you will receive a phone call from the agent from the vehicle transport company. Once transportation is set up, you would take the vehicle to a holding/terminal facility. With terminal based transportation, your car is loaded into a terminal at one end, then unloaded into another terminal at your destination. You bring the vehicle to the designated terminal for pickup, where the car stays until it is picked up by the carriers.
Since your vehicle will not be picked up or delivered from locations close to the residence you specified, you will need to make arrangements to drop it off and pick it up from terminals. Even if your vehicle cannot be picked up or delivered directly to your door, due to the reasons explained above, it will be picked up and delivered near–usually within one to two miles of your initial destination. In those instances when we cannot offer a door-to-door service, pick-up and/or delivery will occur at a safe, convenient, and mutually agreed-upon location. No matter what the circumstances, our company will work diligently to find you a convenient terminal location and a car transportation plan that works.
We own our own trucking fleet, but if we can deliver your car faster, we will work with one of our trusted partner carriers to broker the transportation. If you have questions about trucking from the terminal to the terminal, please do not hesitate to call our Transportation Specialists at (864) 546-4038. Please visit our frequently asked questions page if you have questions regarding your needs for terminal-to-terminal trucking.
If someone needs to move their vehicle anywhere in the U.S., be it one city to another, or a cross-state drive, Door-to-Door Car Transport is a service that we would recommend at all times.
It is usually cheaper to send cars through terminals rather than through door-to-door car transportation, as carriers consolidate deliveries at and from those terminals. A terminal is a transportation hub, and carriers will frequently combine deliveries traveling in a single area. Terminal-to-terminal vehicle transportation services are used by companies that move large volumes of vehicles, and are a more convenient way of moving vehicles. Their car will be transported to the terminal at your destination city, and then you will be able to collect your vehicle when it is convenient for you. The primary advantage of terminal-to-terminal vehicle transportation is lower transportation costs.
A car might move several times through the terminal before the vehicle transporter arrives to pick it up, the same is true of deliveries. A Car Carrier/Trucker will load their whole truck in one terminal, then dump their whole load in a different terminal.
Your circumstances might require using hybrid services, in which your vehicle is picked up from the terminal and delivered to your door, or you have your car picked up from your door and delivered to a transportation terminal. In some situations, you may choose to go with a hybrid service, where the car is picked up at your door and delivered to your destination terminal, or, for time and convenience; you can leave the vehicle at a terminal to pick it up, and then have it delivered to your door in the destination.
